HYPERREALITY

Hyperreality : a symptom of a Postmodern culture. Hyperreality is a situation in which reality is so mediated by technology and media that it becomes difficult to tell the difference between what is real and what is fake. The boundaries between the physical world and the simulated world have become blurred.

For example : Carefully constructed simulations of various worlds and experiences are produced by theme parks such as Universal Studios and Disneyland. Sometimes, visitors may forget that these simulations are not real because they can be so realistic.

Consumerismthe idea that increasing consumption of goods and services purchased in the market is always a desirable goal.

For example : The sales of Shopee. They usually pick a day that flash sale and encourage people to buy stuff because this is away more cheaper than usual. However, every month they will have one day so the shopper think that this day is only day that all the stuff is cheap and they will buy things that unnecessary.

Simulacrum : A copy or representation of something that was either never an original or is no longer an original is called a simulacrum. It denotes something that it is not, making it difficult to tell the difference between simulation and reality.

Key Characteristics : Lack of Originality, Fabrications, and Blurring Reality.

For example : Disneyland : Disneyland's meticulously designed surroundings provide a simulation of joy, excitement, and magic. Awe and excitement are evoked by the carefully crafted characters, outfits, and attractions. But this world is all made up and unfounded in reality.

Simulationa representation of a real-world process or system that is created using a model. This model can be physical, mathematical, or computer-based and allows us to study the behavior of the system under different conditions without needing to interact with the real world directly.

Key Characteristics : Representation, Experimentation, and Predictive Power.
For example : Video games : A lot of video games are simulations of real-world pursuits like driving, athletics, and combat. Even though these simulations are frequently stylized and simplified, gamers may nevertheless find them to be realistic and interesting.

Virtual reality (VR) : a three-dimensional environment simulated by computer that allows users to interact with it as though it were real or tangible. Through the use of a headset and other sensory equipment, virtual reality (VR) submerges the user in a virtual environment where they can explore, interact with things, and even take part in virtual activities.
Key Characteristics : Immersion, Interactivity, Sensory Stimulation, and Real-time Responsiveness.
For example : In the gaming industry, virtual reality (VR) is growing in popularity because it makes games more immersive and interactive for gamers.

There is another example of VR is the anime 'Sword Art Online'.

Augmented reality (AR) : a technology that superimposes computer-generated images or data onto the user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. This means that you can see both the real world and the virtual elements simultaneously, overlaid on top of each other.

Key Characteristics : Combines real and virtual, Real-time interaction, Context aware, Accessible and Diverse
For example : Navigation : By superimposing arrows and directions on the user's view of the real world, Google Maps Live View offers augmented reality walking directions.

Alienationa feeling of estrangement, isolation, or disconnection from something or someone or real world.

For example : Art : The works of many artists, such as Edvard Munch and Vincent van Gogh, often express feelings of isolation and despair.

Generative AI : designates a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that specializes in producing original content, including text, photos, code, music, and video. It makes use of machine learning models that have been trained on enormous amounts of pre-existing content to identify patterns and relationships, allowing them to produce original content that is frequently identical to work produced by humans.

For example : Chat GPT, and Bard AI.
